Fr. Paul Schloemer, OFM Conv.
Friar Paul Schloemer, OFM Conv. is originally from Woodbridge, VA and the second of five children. He attended the University of Notre Dame on a Naval ROTC scholarship, graduating in 1987 with a B.A. in psychology. After serving five years as a Surface Line Officer in the Navy, he attained an M.S. in psychology from Old Dominion University.
He entered the Conventual Franciscans at age 30, and studied philosophy at Saint Louis University. Following the Novitiate, he then received an M.A. in theology form The Catholic University of America, and completed his theological studies at the University of Wuerzburg in Germany. He was ordained to the diaconate in Germany in 2003. After Germany, he served one year as Deacon at Saint Joseph’s Church in Terre Haute, IN where he was ordained to the presbyterate in 2004, and then served two more years at Saint Joseph’s as Associate Pastor. Friar Paul then spent nine months in Central America learning Spanish before returning to take over the Vocation Office in Louisville, KY. After seven years as Vocation Director, friar Paul spent the next 12 years as Formation Director for our
post-novitiate students in San Antonio, TX and Silver Spring, MD.
