WHY CHOOSE A CATHOLIC CEMETERY?
Catholic cemeteries are set apart from other cemeteries in that they are part of the ministry of the Church. One of the corporeal works of mercy of the Church is to bury the dead because our bodies are created by God, belong to God, return to God, and will eventually rise from the dead at the end of time.
In Catholic Cemeteries, the ground is blessed, thereby making it hallowed or holy. These sacred places minister to the deceased, the bereaved, the poor, and the alienated as well as to local parish communities. Family members who are not Catholic can also benefit as they are welcome to use the Catholic Cemetery.
Services provided by St. Mary’s caretakers include: burial sites, green burial, and perpetual care for the grounds and mausoleum.
As of September 2025, St. Mary’s Cemetery Board is investigating the possibility of purchasing a columbarium which is a final resting place for ashes above the ground.
In particular, there are three items which must be arranged for at the time of need:
- Deciding your interment
- Remains buried in ground – traditional grave
- Cremated remains buried in the ground
- Professional fees for opening and closing the grave.
- Choosing your memorialization.
Rules & Regulations
The St. Mary Cemetery Board has put forth the following Rules & Regulations to help in the maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery. These rules and regulations also ensure that the cemetery is treated as the sacred ground that it is: the final resting place of our loved ones who wait for the resurrection of their bodies at the end of time.
In this document, you will find the costs for purchasing graves and much more. You can view them here: St. Mary’s Rules & Regulations
