Barqoue Discoveries

The award-winning musicians of the Astralis Chamber Ensemble; Angela Massey (flute), Yu-Ming Ma (violin), Laura Usiskin (cello), and Alexandra Dunbar (harpsichord), will present an enchanting concert of Baroque music on Thursday, September 19 at 7:00pm in the Upper Basilica. These musicians have studied at some of the most competitive and prestigious institutions for music in the United States and have received international recognition for their performances. Angela Massey holds flute positions with the Southwest Florida Symphony, Venice Symphony, and has been a featured soloist with the Tryon Concert Association, Kosciuszko Foundationin NYC, and abroad in France, Germany, Italy, Romania, and Switzerland.

Taiwanese violinist, Yu-Ming Ma, has been invited as a soloist to perform for the Siung Song Orchestra in Taiwan, Kneisel Hal lChambe rMusic Festival, Music@Menlo, and Tongyeong International Festival in Korea.

Laura Usiskin hasperformed inconcert halls throughout the United States and Europe, including the Kennedy Center, Symphony Hall in Boston, Carnegie Weill Hall in NYC,and the Palazzo Chigi Saracini in Italy.

Dr. Alexandra Dunbar received her DMA in harpsichord performance from the Juilliard School, has been asoloist with the Chamber Orchestra of New York, and collaborated on performance projects with the New York Philharmonic.

“Baroque Discoveries,” will introduce the audience to lesser known works by major composers from the Baroque period, including J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann, Geminiani, CPE Bach, and Handel.
