One of the main components of a Jubilee Year is going on a pilgrimage. Through the papal bull proclaiming the Jubilee Year, Pope Francis extended the right to each diocesan bishop to designate sites within his diocese as pilgrimage locations for the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence. Bishop Daniel E. Thomas has designated four sites within the Diocese of Toledo:
- Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo
- The Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue
- Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica
- The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey
We are honored to be one of the locations for the Jubilee Year, especially given our nature as a basilica. As a basilica, we have a special connection with the Holy Father.
