For the safety and respect of all who come to worship during these sacred days, we ask that all people kindly obey the following rules.
Camping
- Camping is allowed in 2025. This will be the FINAL year for camping on OLC Grounds. (Click here to see local campsites.)
- Campsites are available on a first come, first served basis. ALL camping sites will be marked off with white chalk, all going the same direction. There will be room for a camper and two vehicles beside it, plus a picnic table and chairs (which you must bring).
- Reserving and/or charging for camping spots is STRICTLY prohibited.
- If you are renting a camper from a company that will deliver it to the field, you MUST be here when it is delivered.
- You may not leave and then come back at a later date.
- When leaving, the camper MUST be picked up before you leave. Any campers left in the field unattended will be removed and YOU will pay the towing fee.
- No vehicles are permitted to be parked in the drive that is needed for emergency vehicles, trash pickup, etc. Any vehicles in the drive will be towed at your expense. We are expecting many more pilgrims this year since it is the 150th anniversary.
- Green Shrine benches and picnic tables are not available for use anymore. Please bring your own tables and chairs. Benches are placed around the Basilica for the Pilgrims. Do not remove them!
- Scooters and golf carts are strictly prohibited! If you are on the grounds with either it will be taken and locked up.
- No fireworks or loud music. You must be respectful of the residents of Carey.
- Only toilet paper is flushable in the toilets. No other foreign items in the toilets: this includes paper towels, socks, pantyhose, or anything else that will plug the toilets!
- ALL children under 18 years of age must be supervised and must be in the camp with their parents by 9:00pm!
- Please make every effort to attend Novena prayers, masses and confessions as a family, especially at the Chaldean Masses, Novena and Shrine Devotions and the August 14, Vigil Mass at the Shrine Park Altar.
Basilica and Original Shrine Church
- The Basilica (upper and lower) and the Original Shrine Church are sacred spaces consecrated for worship and prayer. Our Lord Jesus Christ is present in the tabernacle and reverence in the presence of the King of the Universe is of utmost importance.
- No motorized objects such as scooters, hoverboards, etc. are permitted. This includes parked outside or inside the doors. The only motorized objects allowed are wheelchairs.
- Kindly refrain from loud talking, especially when there is a liturgy taking place.
- Nobody is permitted in the sanctuary except liturgical ministers and those carrying the statue of Our Lady of Consolation during devotions each evening.
- The choir loft in the upper basilica is strictly off limits to all, except musicians.
- Cameras are in place and record everything: damage will be found and you will be held responsible.
Food trucks & Cafeteria
- We are happy to be able to host food trucks throughout the Novena. Please be respectful of all vendors.
- NO outside food or drinks are permitted in the Shrine Cafeteria. This is in accordance with Health Department regulations. Only people who purchase food are permitted to sit and eat in the cafeteria.
